A newly opened café in Bugis is about to blow you away with its own version of Beef Wellington.

We all know that Bugis has a plethora of cafés with a wide range of menus, but this one is worth visiting.

A modest eatery on Jalan Klapa, started by a group of cousins who are passionate about food and tucked among the stretch of cafes and restaurants, provides a definitely unusual yet delectable PadangTON - a Beef Wellington with a touch of some local recipe.

Their love of Rendang PADANG and the Beef WellingTON, a redesigned spin on the classic Beef Wellington, inspired the Padangton. Their signature dish is the well-known rendang, which is unlike any other because of its rich and viscous sauce and fork-tender beef that has been cooked for hours.

Curious to find out what it’s like? The mix of French cuisine and local flavors has undeniably hit the spot. We bought their Beef Rendang Padangton ($14.50). The dish's concept remains the same: their famous beef rendang wrapped in puff pastry and baked. When we bit into the baked food, the external texture was not too flaky, with the second layer being chewy, making the percentage of hard and soft equal. The unique Beef Rendang was next, with its sauce spilling out of the crust. With that, you know that one bite is insufficient.

We knew one wasn’t enough, so we had to try their Lamb Shank Rendang Padanton ($27), a hearty dish that will make an excellent centerpiece. The lamb shanks are supple and fall off-the-bone soft after being slow-cooked in the signature authentic rendang Padang style. Remove the bone from the lamb shank pastry, leaving all of the meat within, before cutting. This dish, wrapped as a Padangton and served with buttery, flaky pastry, is not to be missed.

Next up, we got the Pulled Chicken Rendang Fries ($9.50), These fries are made with soft, slow-cooked beef rendang that has been shredded. They are then generously covered with melted cheese for a very tempting snack or dinner. Your coffees/lattes are refillable, in addition to the delectable baked goods!

We did try to get the owner of the Padangton to spill the recipe, but it’s a passed-down legacy that is a secret only to families. So, there is no hope of finding another store that can provide the same baked goods as Padangton. Quickly head down to The Padangton and try their delectable goods! Our verdict; it’s worth the special trip!

If you got your hands full, they have a delivery service! You can gobble on their specialties in your comfort.
