Douhua, or beancurd, is a short form for doufuhua. A Chinese snack made of very soft tofu also referred to as tofu pudding, soybean pudding, or tofu brains. When it first hit the shore on this tiny island, everyone went mad over it.
As time goes by, with the innovation of tradition infused with the present-day modish ingredients, the modern take on beancurd has taken to new heights and has been thriving in the local scene. With snake-like queues at beancurd stalls, everyone went bonkers and was excited with what the stalls had to offer. Just a modest and gentle snack that's easily attainable, even during the wee hours. The best part of it is that it’s cheap and rewarding.
Here’s a list of Beancurd Stalls around the island.
1. Rochor Beancurd House

By far my go-to beancurd stall late at night; opened 24 hrs (only the kiosk located in Geylang). Although it is far from the neighboring areas, the delectable made there is worth the exceptional trip.

One of my favorite go-to beancurd stalls is a readily accessible joint. I've made it a habit to drop by whenever I'm nearby. The rich and savory beancurd is a must-try snack with a proportionate syrup to beancurd ratio. Do not disregard the Portuguese egg tarts and the red-bean buns that were freshly fried upon orders.

With multiple stalls throughout the island, along with delivery services, Selegie Soya Bean consistently serves smooth and silky beancurd, and I'd say, comparable with the ones that Rochor sells.

4. Mr. Bean

Although Mr. Bean is known for their delicious pancake, their beancurd is worth the try. With multiple outlets located everywhere, it is easily accessible. Their beancurd has a smooth texture and is slightly more glutinous than the ones we usually have. Best part? You can adjust the sweetness according to your preference.

5. Lao Ban Beancurd

Big applause for the beancurd pudding. With a custard-like smooth texture, with a similar satisfying taste to the usual beancurd, Lao Ban Beancurd, was well-known amongst beancurd lovers in Singapore, the prime establishment in Old Airport Rd in 2007. It is readily accessible, with multiple outlets across the island; you can easily get it delivered to your doorstep.

The delectables served in Lao Ban Beancurd, and 51 Soya Bean are indistinguishable. Both possess a similar taste; equally sweet with enriched flavors. Unlike Lao Ban Beancurd, 51 Soya Bean offers beancurd with other delightful flavors such as Milo, Bandung, etc.
