Birds of Paradise: A Michelin-Recommended local gelato brand that excels in various flavours.

The owner, Edwin Lim, was inspired by a revelatory experience he had at an ice cream shop in Berkeley, California while living there in his twenties – relinquish his job and opened the establishment in 2016.

Birds of Paradise has been on a timeless mission to concoct the most awesome local ice-cream flavours - artisanal gelato accented with botanical ever since.

Their humble and inviting space - a minimalist botanical theme, which boasts tranquillity, allows one’s eye drawn to the gelato flavours once you’ve entered.

It is spacious, with lots of room for you to hang but unfortunately, seats are limited given the large amount of empty space in this chic outlet.

WHAT WE TRIED

We tried the Coconut Sorbet and were amazed at how this flavour can even be achieved - rich with the clean, sweet flavour of coconut milk, intermixed with juicy bits of coco flesh. It has the perfect ratio of thick, and light, yet refreshing.

Prices go at $4.70 for a single scoop, $7.70 for a double scoop, and $1 extra for a thyme cone. We’d recommend the cone has that beautiful fragrance and light crunch – the best accompaniment to the creamy gelato, which is freshly made on-site.

Birds of Paradise has won the hearts of gelato enthusiasts in Singapore.
