Can you really stargaze in Singapore? Well here are some spots that could get you lucky!

Singapore’s skyscape is constantly flooded by city lights – whether from Marina Bay Sands or our CBD’s lofty skyscrapers. It’s hard to experience astronomical observations. But there are some spots in Singapore that allows you to enjoy astrophysics. Although it may not be as precise as seen in the movies, at least you’re able to enjoy bits of it.


Best Stargazing Spots in Singapore:


1. Yishun Dam

Put a little distance between your usual hangs and hit up Yishun Dam for a private little stargazing – a scenic stretch with waterfront views. It isn’t the most practical spot by public transport, it’ll be best to drive down as the starlit sky makes the trip more memorable.


2. Marina Barrage

Known for its vast grassy platform and blanket of privacy once night falls – the perfect spot for a romantic evening. The Green Roof gives lovebirds an opportunity for an unobstructed view of the night sky. Do note that access to the Green Roof is only until 9 PM daily, so get your stargazing done early!


3. Henderson Waves

The architectural feat of Henderson Waves constructs it to be a stellar spot for catching the starlit sky in all its magnificence. The wooden boardwalk is suspended at a staggering height of 36M above the ground. With the surrounding view and the dim lighting in place, you won’t need to go through the hassle of setting up to attain the perfect ambiance.


4. Jurong Lake Garden

Jurong Lake Garden is a prime location for stargazing, as it is seated away from the busy streets. You might be lucky enough to spot some dimmer stars visible to the naked eye. Along with its soft and dreamy backdrop, it’s an oasis of peace for many who visit the area. For the best spot to view the unceasing sky, head towards the Lone Tree and set up base there.


5. Jurong Hill

Jurong Hill Park’s most famous feature, the Lookout Tower, gives you an astronomical opportunity to observe the boundless sky. Comes nightfall, you might be lucky enough to get a glimpse of the stars in action.


6. Pulau Ubin

You probably already know of Pulau Ubin, the island northeast of mainland Singapore that is home to our last kampungs. The offshore island has plenty to see, including a gorgeous night sky after sunset since there is less light pollution here. Plan a camping trip with your loved ones and enjoy a night of wonders with the starlit sky bestowed upon you.


7. Seletar Rocket Tower

It is called Rocket Tower, but do not put your hopes high! It’s not going to launch off into space, but it can at least bring you 6 stories high closer to the sky. Known for its Instagram-potential location, it’s also a nifty spot for catching sight of some constellations if luck permits.


8. Botanic Garden

A tranquil respite from the city buzz. It's considered to be the least light-polluted place in Singapore. It has several dark spots suitable for stargazing, such as the open field near Swan Lake. At night, lights will illuminate the plenty of lush greenery in the area, where you can simultaneously soak in nature and starry views.
